Tommy John Surgery
Tommy John Surgery – Tommy John surgery can be defined as an ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction also called UCL in which doctors replace the ligament in the medial elbow with a tendon from elsewhere in the body (often from the forearm, hamstring, knee, or foot of the patient). The procedure is named after Tommy John, who was a pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers who was operated by Dr. Frank Jobe in 1974.
